ROTHBART - short film

I've been recently digging into my old projects because I realized I've never posted about it, so here it comes !
"ROTHBART" is a short film I co-directed with Damien RUDEAUX, Manon BENET, Victoria LEVIAUX, Harald DIETERICHS, and Baptiste DUCHAMPS, during our 4th year of 3D animation school (MoPA Arles, FRANCE), in 2022.
It was our first film-making in Maya (autodesk), after years of 3DS Max, and we encountered quite some issues, due to our big ambition of creating new things we didn't know yet how to make (transformations with simulations, morphers, feathers, in a software we barely knew...) ! But in pain, we learn, and we finished in time, so I guess it worked after all.
Anyway, in this project I've worked on the character design for Paul, the dancer (not the costume design). I was in charge of the retopology of the body (Baptiste DUCHAMPS did the sculpting and displacement map), the "before transformation" hair grooming, along with the modeling and texturing of his dance costume. I also helped on the body texturing.
I also did some lighting, compositing (Nuke), and a lot of cloth simulation (cape and curtains) and R&D but I decided to not really post about it here, since it is not my speciality.

Softwares I used during this project : Maya, Arnold renderer, Substance 3D Painter, Photoshop, Marvelous Designer, Premiere Pro, Nuke

Thank you for your time ! :)
